Blog Posting Basics Part 4

Over the last three posts of our Blog Posting Basics series, we’ve discussed:

If you’ve been implementing these steps, you should be well on your way to creating and maintaining a successful blog for your brand or business. In our fourth and final post, we’d like to discuss ways to monetize that blog!

Realistically speaking, monetizing your blog at a level that could significantly supplement your income is unlikely unless you’re receiving tens of thousands of unique visitors on a regular basis. But there are several ways to use your blog to generate additional income to support your blogging efforts and your brand or business.

Strong CTAs

Since you’re writing about your products or services (or at the very least, things that are relevant to your brand or business), you should find an opportunity in every blog to include a strong call to action and an action for the reader to take.

For example, if you’ve discussed a common problem that your target audience experiences and how your product or service can help them, end the article by encouraging them to contact you today for a free consultation or to discuss the product or service further, and include a button or link for them to easily do so.

While you want your blog posts to be helpful and informative, you also want to showcase the value of your product or service. When you make the most out of the traffic your blog posts are receiving, you can increase your revenue by converting those readers into leads.

Sell, sell, sell

You don’t just have to showcase your product or service… you can sell it! Don’t be afraid to designate a blog post (or several) to a specific product or service. If it’s a product, you can talk about its features and how it works, and the elements that are used to make it top quality. If its a service you’re offering, consider talking about the extensive training and expertise that you and/or your team have acquired that make you the best in the business, and mention the ways your service can help your potential client or customer.

Like we said before about converting readers to leads, you can end this type of post with a similar call to action encouraging them to purchase your product or sign up for your service today, with a button to put it right into their shopping cart or a link to your e-commerce page.

Email lists

Sometimes, a first time reader might not be interested in a consultation or may not be ready to purchase your product or service yet, but they may still be interested in the valuable and trustworthy information that you have to offer in your blog posts. They may also want to take the time to learn more before converting or buying.

Giving your readers an opportunity to join your email list to receive a notification each time you publish a new blog post (or receive that blog post right in their inbox) can keep them in your conversion funnel. When they receive those frequent, consistent, accurate, and informative blog posts in their email, they’re reminded of your brand or business and their interest is piqued even more. This could encourage them to purchase your product or sign up for your service, and they might also share your posts with their colleagues, friends, and family!
